Opal Davis of Big Rapids passed away Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Altercare of Big Rapids. She was born April 19, 1920 to Tom and Ora (Conley) Caudill in Falcon, KY. In 1954 Opal married Raymond (Bear) Davis and they lived on his homestead farm north of Big Rapids until his death in 1981. She is survived by 3 children, Roy (Bev) Caudill of Reed City, Doug (Karen) Caudill of Reed City and Brenda (George) Derby of Big Rapids; 1 step-daughter, Patty (Dan) Weston of Casnovia; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Gobel Caudill of South Point, OH and Paul Caudill of Ashland, KY; many nieces and nephews. Opal was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; 2 sisters, Faye Howard and Edith Tackett. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Big Rapids with Pastor Bruce Peterson officiating. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. until services at 3:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will take place at West Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Opal's name to the First Baptist Church in Big Rapids.
