Norva B. Shears, age 88 of Big Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital. She was born on December 12, 1929 to Ralph and Beulah (Carpenter) Pike. Norva made her home and raised her family in Coopersville, MI before moving to Big Rapids in 2003. She retired from General Motors where she was a seamstress. Norva adored her cat "Tabby" and loved to sew. Norvas legacy of love and dedication to her family will not be forgotten by: her daughter, Shelia McIntyre of Big Rapids; daughter-in-law, Kristie Durst of Grand Rapids; five grandchildren, Kelly and Jose Bravo, Heidi and Steve Chomniak, Matt and Kathy Hecksel, J-Aime and Terry Michael and Beth and Jeffrey Lemerand; twelve great-grandchildren, Brandy (Grover), Kaytie, Ken (Krystle), Cole, Brooklyn, Allen, Jonathan, Christopher, Klye, Emma, Hunter and Kaci; seven great-great-grandchildren, Jade, Logan, Austin, Carson, Kahlon, Ravin and Gabriel and one great-great-great-grandson AJ. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Norva was preceded in death by: her husband, Merlin Shears; a son, Frank "Pete" Durst; son-in-law, Chuck McIntyre; parents, Ralph and Beulah Pike; two brothers, Helmer and Ramon Pike and her twin brother, Norman Pike. A life celebration will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Westbrook Farmstead Rustic Venue, 2033 Westbrook Road, Ionia, MI 48846.
