Norman E. Macey, age 91 of Canadian Lakes, formerly of Marquette and Berkley, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2010. He was born June 12, 1918 in Detroit, the son of Leo and Justine (Narkus) Macey. Norman was honorably discharged from the United States Army. He served as a Platoon Sergeant during World War II in the European Theater of Operations, with the 42nd Infantry "Rainbow" Division. Norman married the former Patricia York in 1944. They raised their family in Berkley, MI where they made their home for over 25 years. Norman was a machinist by trade and had worked for Lamina Tool and Die. In 1972 Norman and Patricia moved to the Marquette area where Norman enjoyed U.P. living and work for P & H of Escanaba. Norman was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marquette and Chapel of the Lakes Lutheran Church of Mecosta. He is survived by his loving family whose members include 4 daughters; Alice Macey of Birmingham, Nora Land of Canadian Lakes, Bonnie (Goggi) Schaub of Marquette, MI, Eileen (Mearl) Kerns of Canadian Lakes; 7 grandchildren, Matthew (Dawn) Krumm of Howell, Andrea Krumm of Brighton, Sarah Schaub of Seattle, WA, Melissa Thompson, Daniel (Frederique) Severns of Columbus, GA, Kali (Jeff) Harper of Thornton, CO, Devin Kerns of Rifle, CO; 6 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Norman was preceded in death by his beloved wife Patricia in 1999 and a sister Julia Luck. Graveside services will take place this spring at the Mathias Township Cemetery in Trenary, MI. Norman's life will be honored at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marquette, MI with the time and day announced at a later date.
