Norma (Martin) Schumaker, age 88 of Big Rapids, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at her home. She was born October 5, 1928 to Orville and Frances Martin. Norma was born and raised in Sears until she graduated from Evart High School in 1946. She then went to Grand Rapids to work. Norma married one year later and was the mother to six children; five boys and one girl. She was employed by Wolverine World Wide for 20 years and has resided in Big Rapids for nearly 35 years. Norma had a rooming house on 4th Avenue, which she greatly enjoyed. She had many collections, one of which was Barbie Dolls. Norma is survived by five children, Gary (Sue) of South Haven, Mississippi, Craig of Hart and Florida, Lanny (Diana) of Conklin, Mark of Charlotte, and Mike of Stanwood; one sister, Kay (Darle) Gould; nine grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Dale, nephew Aaron, and daughter Joy. A memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Peggy A. Rose officiating.
