Norbert A. Korpal, age 91 of Morley, went home to be with his Lord Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Mecosta County Medical Center in Big Rapids. He was born January 31, 1921 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the son of Bruno and Martha (Ruta) Korpal. Norbert married the former Lorraine T. Dutkiewicz also of Milwaukee On February 22, 1941; they had a loving marriage, for a remarkable 67 years, until Lorraine's passing on March 18, 2008. Norbert was drafted into the United States Army on December 18, 1944, serving during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater until his honorable discharge. After his discharge, Norbert returned to his home in Milwaukee where he was employed for the Schwerman Truck Company. The couple lived in several places until 1968 when they moved to a farm near Morley, where Norbert could further his love of hobby farming. He was employed at Robinson's Equipment in Lakeview and then was hired by the United States Post Office in Grand Rapids, retiring in 1985. Following retirement the couple moved to Texas to live for 12 years, returning to Michigan in 2004. Norbert was a life member of the V.F.W. He is survived by 8 children, Karen (Phil) Stillwell of Big Rapids, Michael (Teresa) Korpal of Morley, Susan (Charles) Erke of N. FonduLac, WI, Norman Korpal of Plymouth, WI, Linda (Johnny) Grimes of Brady, TX, Shirley Berenyi of Perrinton, Cheryl (Pat) Hyman of Perrinton and Lois (Bob) Thompson of Haslet, TX; 27 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and beloved wife Lorraine, Norbert was preceded in death by 5 sisters. A memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 19th at the First Baptist Church in Morley. Memorial contributions in Norbert's name may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
