Obituary

Neva Belle Curtis Fenton has lived in Barryton all of her life but she left us to join her husband in heaven, Ford Fenton, who died in January of 2012 at age 93. His funeral was on her 89th birthday January 28, 2012. She had a ball at her 90th birthday party on February 2, 2013, but died one week after that in her home. Neva was a jolly person who loved to laugh whether she was with her family or her church family. Neva was a very sharp dresser and loved red and turquoise for color. She had a special relationship with her Pastor and his family, Pastor Thomas Doherty. Neva grew up as the third child of 10 on a farm five miles northwest of Barryton. She worked at Clare Manufacturing, Wolverine Worldwide, and at the Free Methodist Church of Barryton where she spent over 25 years as Secretary/Treasurer until she was approximately 87 years old. Neva had no children, but was close to her brothers and sisters as well as her niece and her husband, Chuck and Jan Zuke. They have been a huge source of support for her. Neva is survived by Doris Curtis (Colin) Drake of Barryton, Marge Curtis (Harold) Weeks of Midland, LD Clyde Curtis (Jeri Geitzen) of Howard City, Carol Curtis (Wayne) Hull of Barryton, Ronald Curtis (Gerry Lenon) of Big Rapids, Beverly Curtis (Clois) Bowman of Reed City and numerous nieces and nephews. Family members who preceded her in death were her parents George (age 44) & Mabel (age 76) Enyart Curtis, sisters: Wilma (Toots) (Edward) Fenton and Barbara Curtis (Frank) Carroll, a brother Robert who died a few hours after birth, brothers-in-law Colin Drake, and Harold Weeks. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 3 PM at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton (south of Barryton on M 66). Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the Daggett Funeral Home of Barryton. Luncheon will follow the funeral at the Community Center on Chippewa Lake Road just west of M 66.
