Nathan P. Suckow, age 89 of Paris, passed away Monday, February 4, 2008. He was born March 15, 1918 in Estherville, Iowa to William and Rose (Porter) Suckow. He moved to Michigan as a child. Nathan enlisted in the United States Army serving during World War II in the European Theater and was honorably discharged. On November 28, 1942 he married Edna L. Cline. His lifetime occupation in this area was farming and as a woodworker at the Pine Shops in Big Rapids. Nathan was a member of American Legion Post #98, the AmVets Post # 1941, and St. Peters Lutheran Church all of Big Rapids. He is survived by his wife, of a remarkable 65 years; Edna of Paris Three children; Edward (Kay) Suckow of Paris, Rosemary (Patrick) Kailing of Reed City, Linda Lou (Walter) Parks of Durango, Colorado, eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, sister; Lois Blevins living near Chicago, and several nieces and nephews. Nathan was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers; Clare Shampoo and William Suckow, 2 sisters; Inez Jewell and Dorothy Sweet and a grandson; Wesley Parks. A memorial service will take place 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 16th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Dean Davenport officiating. Memorial contributions in Nathan's name may be directed to Hospice of Michigan, the American Legion Post #98 Firing Squad, the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
