Nancy Kay Myers age 73, of Big Rapids passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at her home after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 11, 1937 in Big Rapids to Thomas and Marie (Peepers) Ray. Nancy graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1955. She married Larry W. Myers in 1957 and together they made their home in Big Rapids. Nancy was employed at Ferris State University as a secretary until her retirement. She was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Big Rapids and will be deeply missed. Nancy is survived by 2 children, Gary Myers of Big Rapids and Melody Alder of Belleville; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Alder of Brighton, Tiffany Alder of Brighton, Ben Myers of Big Rapids, Jessica Alder of Belleville; a great-grandson Christian Alder, 4 sisters, Faye (Paul) Thomas of Remus, Sharon (Art) Vincent of Big Rapids, Sandy Sweet of Big Rapids, Barbara Lisco of Hudson, FL; 4 sisters-in-law, Paula (Gary) Finney of Barryton, Linda (John) Abbott of Farwell, Marsha (Otto) Burmeister of Clare, Alicia Ray of Georgia and many nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Larry Myers on February 12, 1989, 2 brothers David Ray and Thomas Ray Jr.; 2 sisters, Betty Derby and Shirley Fulkerson; great-granddaughter, JaVonna Brooks; 4 brothers-in-law Jack Lisco, Hugh Fulkerson, Clet Sweet and Wayne Derby. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 23rd at St. Peters Lutheran Church with Pastor John Bookshaw officiating. Interment will follow at Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids. Memorial donations in Nancy's name can be made to Hospice of Michigan.
