Nancy Jean Gerst, age 75, of Big Rapids passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Altercare of Big Rapids. She was born in Lansing, MI on April 14, 1943 to Frank and Beatrice (White) Bushre. Nancy graduated from Big Rapids High School. On June 25, 1960 she married Jimmie R. Gerst Sr. and they made their home and raised their family in Big Rapids. Nancy is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jimmie; one son, Jimmie (Alice) Gerst Jr. of Big Rapids; three grandchildren, Jimmie Dean (Jennifer) Gerst of Big Rapids, Jacklyn (Alexander) Hollenbeck of Canadian Lakes and Jessica Gerst of Big Rapids; three great-grandsons, Lucas and Kyle Hollenbeck and Quentin Dolbee and many nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents; three siblings, Donna Galer, Ruth (Walter) Gemzer and Robert Bushre. A celebration of Nancys life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. The family will greet friends on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
