Nancy Lou Fulton (Montney), 80 years old, passed away unexpectedly on August 12th, 2024, at home with family. She was born on April 3, 1944, in Muskegon, Michigan to Clayton A. Montney and Betty L. Hinton. She was a believer in Christ and the three Golden Girls (Nancy, Linda and Janet) were baptized on April 16, 2020, together!
Nancy had 5 Children, and 9 Stepchildren. Preceding her in death was her son Scott (Pam) Tice of Muskegon, stepson William Fulton Jr (Kathy) of Brohman, and son-in-law William Iltis. Surviving are her children Robin (Lonnie) LaMadline of Paris, Robert (Roxanne) Tice of Traverse City, Kathie (Tom) Frontjes of Grant and Wendy (Jason) Chupp of Paris. She was loved by so many, especially her Grandchildren and late Grandson ("little weetheart") Christopher Ramsvig. She was blessed with being a Great Grandmother and was known as NeNe. She had a special relationship with each child and loved to teach them nursery rhymes, their ABCs backward and oldies music. She helped them with their schoolwork like book reports and big projects. She would help with mending old-favorite clothing, making costumes, donating to school fundraisers and making favorite foods. She was our popcorn ball maker and loved to give them as a Christmas gift.
Nancy spent most of her young life in Muskegon and later moved to Brohman where she lived and raised her family. She and her late husband, William D. Fulton Sr. retired and built a beautiful home in Paris on the Muskegon River. Nancy served as the Secretary of the Jury Board for Newaygo County for over 30 years and was still consulting about the position.
Some of her favorites were sitting on the porch to have a smoke and cup of coffee, having a snack of Cheetos or a donut stick, making a sandwich and sharing some with the family dog and denying it, shopping for new shirts, purses & rugs. She loved listening to Elvis, watching court and game shows, playing cards and board games! She was an avid vocabularian and cruciverbalist even at 80 years old! She was an amazing cook, and her recipes will forever be our favorites. She enjoyed watching birds, looking at bird books and collecting bird houses.
Nancy has one sister surviving: Linda (late Oakie) Combs of Big Rapids and two brothers, John (Karen) Montney of Brohman and Joe (Tammy) Montney of Grant, including many nephews and nieces (including Brenda Fisher who she considered her 4th daughter). Nancy was the oldest girl in her family of nine. It would be remiss if we didnt mention that she was the main caregiver of all her siblings growing up, including three cousins. Each sibling was a favorite of hers, and she was more like a mother to them in many ways. She was preceded in death by three sisters; Emma Jane, MaryAnn, Janet and two brothers; Clifford and Timothy.
