Nancy Joe Button, age 93 of Big Rapids, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2025.

She was born February 17, 1931, in Cardwell, MO. The daughter of Archie and Leah (White) Mills where she was the oldest of 13 children. She married Hank Button on March 2, 1948, near Ashton where they made their home for many years until moving to Big Rapids over 33 years ago where they raised their 7 children.

Nancy was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Big Rapids and retired as a cook at St. Mary Catholic School. She loved to read paperback novels and had a great sense of humor. She could also be found bowling with her family or at the Senior Center playing euchre.

Nancy is survived by her 7 children: Henry (Michelle) Button Jr. of Reed City, James (Jeannette) Button of Leroy, Janet Renne of Reed City, Janine (Rick) Carrick of Big Rapids, Jay (Carol) Button of Big Rapids, Joe (Lenore) Button of Luther, Jennifer Button of Hersey; Siblings Dick Marlow, Loretta Lyons, Pat, Archie, Harry, and Jim Mills; As well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Hank, parents, daughter Julie K. Button, three brothers, Joseph Mills, Tom Dingley, and Theodore Mills, and infant sister Barbara Mills.

A Memorial Mass will take place Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Big Rapids. Nancy will be laid to rest next to Hank in Ashton Cemetery this coming spring.
