Minerva E. Owens, age 84, of Lake passed away, unexpectedly following a short illness with Leukemia, on July 16, 2010 at the U of M Medical Hospital in Ann Arbor. She was born on June 7, 1926 in Coldwater Twp., Isabella Co., MI to Empson and Maude (Hoffman) Bowen. On June 14, 1941 Minerva married Edmund Owens in Weidman and they made their home in Coldwater Twp. She was formerly employed by Evart Products, Wolverine World Wide in Big Rapids and was a retired school bus driver of 20 years for the Chippewa Hills School District. Minerva was a member of the Brinton Chapel in Lake, the VFW 4106 Ladies Auxiliary in Weidman, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lake Aerie 3761 and Women of the Moose, Clare Chapter 1038. She was an avid quilter when she was able, wonderful gardener, made infamous pies and enjoyed spending time and worrying about her family. Minerva is survived by three beloved daughters who will continue to hold the memories of their mother close to their hearts; Darlene Tetzlaff, Sharron (Gilbert) Schrock and Sandra (Jacques) Coon all of Lake, 7 grandchildren; Jeff (Justine) Tetzlaff of Lake, Brian Tetzlaff of Lake, Brenda Tetzlaff of Grand Rapids, Bobby (Elizabeth) Tetzlaff of Mt. Pleasant, Philip (Mindy) Schrock of Lake, Paul (Jessica) Schrock of Milwaukee, WI and Joshua (Heather) Coon of Middleton, WI, 10 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, sister Betty (Gale) Merrihew of Clio, brother Doyle Bowen of Mt. Pleasant, sisters-in-law; Bernadine Bowen and Bernice Bellows and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents Minerva was preceded in death by her husband Edmund Owens, son, Gary Owens, two brothers; Lewis and Olin Bowen and one sister Iola Miller. The family will greet friends on Sunday from 6PM to 8PM, Monday 2PM "" 4PM and 6PM "" 8PM and one hour prior to funeral services at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton. Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at the Daggett Funeral Home with interment following at North Brinton Cemetery. Pastor Jim Weber Memorial donations in Minerva's name can be made to the Brinton Chapel.
