Obituary

Millard A. Brasington, age 85 of Mecosta, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Royal View Retirement Community. He was born in Farwell on January 23, 1936, the son of Rufus and Edith (Halstead) Brasington. Millard and his family moved to Detroit during the war before they settled in Edmore to start a 600-acre family potato farm. He was married in 1954 and helped raise three children while he continued to work on the farm. Millard then married Nina Arnold on June 27, 1989 and they lived in Fallon, Nevada until 1991 when they moved to North Carolina. Millard worked in manufacturing before he became self-employed in the construction industry building churches. He enjoyed volunteering with his church missionary, North Carolina Baptist Men. They provided mission work following the hurricanes in the US and Honduras. In 2018, Millard and Nina moved back to Michigan in October 2018 due to their health to be closer to family. Millard is survived by three children, Brian (Angela) Brasington of Stanton, Pam (John) Disch of Sand Lake, and Scott (Coba) Perrin of Elwell; two step-sons, Mike (Vel) Moore of Barryton and Dave (Cherie) Moore of Stanton; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three siblings, Bill (Joyce) Brasington of Otto, North Carolina, Loren (Wanda) Brasington of Stanton, and Mary (Dick) Kirkpatrick of Lansing; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nina Brasington in 2019, and his daughter Shelda Brasington. A private family service will be held at a later date. Millard will be laid to rest at Vinewood Cemetery in Edmore.
