Mildred Ellen Burden went to be with the Lord on January 12, 2026 in Big Rapids. She was born on June 4, 1940 in Battle Creek to Furman and Elizabeth (Antrim) Wolfe.
On June 26, 1958, she was united in marriage to Gordon E. Burden, and together they were blessed with 33 wonderful years of marriage. Mildred was a woman of strong Christian faith; she was deeply involved in both the Green Country Church and Gracespring Bible Church. She loved to knit, and regularly donated handmade hats and slipper socks to local churches, hospitals, and homeless individuals. In their younger years, Mildred and Gordon valued spending time outdoors camping and fishing. After Gordon's passing, Mildred spent time living in and visiting the U.P., where she always left part of her heart. Mildred relished a good game of cards and keeping up with her family online. She spent many of her later years in Battle Creek.
Mildred is survived by her three children: Gordy (Gail) Burden, Theresa (James) DeVries, and Sherri (Mike) McLellen; siblings; Don Wolfe and Violet Talmage; grandchildren: April (Dan) Decator, Tina Thurston, Stephanie (Ian) Slocum, David Burden, Michael (Wendi) Burden, Nicholas Burden, Joshua McLellen, Justin (Cindy) McLellen, and Taylor (Glen) Swartz; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mildred is preceded in death by her parents: Furman Wolfe and Elizabeth (William) Kettunen; husband: Gordon; daughter: Lori Burden; and siblings: June Matthews and Butch Wolfe.
