IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mike
Malcomnson
September 21, 1952 – December 30, 2025
Michael "Mike" Lloyd Malcomnson passed away at his home in Big Rapids on December 30, 2025. He was born on September 21, 1952 in Big Rapids to Robert and Barbara (Tice) Malcomnson.
A lifelong learner and an educator at heart, Mike earned his bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and his master's degree from Central Michigan University, both in education. He taught at Morley Stanwood Community Schools from 1978 to 1990, and then was the principal at Barryton Elementary until 2003. Mike was also an avid reader outside of work.
Mike and his wife, Evelyn, loved to travel. They enjoyed trying new things and savoring local cuisine wherever they went. Back home, Mike delighted in hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, and custom woodworking. He was known to spoil his grandkids, who greatly value the time they spent with Mike. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing, coaching, and spectating nearly all sports. Always with a quick wit, Mike's response to "how are you?" was invariably, "fair to partly cloudy."
Left to cherish his memory are Mike's children: Kendra (Dan) VanWasshenova and Andrew (Sharice) Malcomnson; grandchildren: Keldon, Cole, Erik, Blaze, and Aleiah; siblings: Dave, Jim, and Patty Malcomnson; Bill, Paul, and Mark Cooper; and Bobbie Chilson.
Mike is predeceased by both parents; his loving wife: Evelyn Malcomnson; and his son, Eric Malcomnson.
