Michael W. Welch age 56 of Morley, passed away Friday, September 29, 2006 at his home. He was born November 8, 1949 in Ukiah, CA to Cecil and Mary (Rockwell) Welch. Mike came to the Morley area as a child. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. Mike worked as a truck driver, a career he truly enjoyed, but his real passion was music. He played several different string instruments and rarely missed an opportunity to attend a local music festival, however, Mike's absolute favorite event was "kitchen pickin" with his friends. He is survived by, his loving wife, Della Welch of Morley 2 children; Michael (Renee) Welch of Cedar Springs Connie (Marty) Dexter of Amble 2 foster children; Cheryl (Chip) Johnson of Manchester Shaun Welch of Grand Rapids 3 Grandchildren; Alicia and Brittany Welch and Cassandra Dexter, Sister; Sue (Glenn) Tribe of Morley 3 brothers; Kenneth (Rosemary) Welch of Morley Robert (Rachel) Welch of Lakeview Thomas (Belinda) Welch of Stanwood Uncle; Wayne Rockwell of Luther and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mike was preceded in death by a sister; Sandra and a brother; Billy. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 2nd at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. The family will greet friends on Sunday at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Amble Cemetery near Morley. Memorial contributions in Mike's name may be made to Hospice of Michigan or given to his family.
