Michael Ray Sanford Sr., 71, passed away on February 5, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Michael was the son of Louis and Hilda (Weeks) Sanford. He met the love of his life Pamela Higley at Midway Bar, and shortly after that they became inseparable. They married in June of 1982, and built a life together full of adventure and love.

Michael was fondly known as "Mike", "Mick", and to a select few "Big Red". He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying and sharing his love of fishing, hunting, bonfires, and being at the river with those closest to him. Things that made him happiest were having family parties, and his annual canoe trip to Thorn Apple, that took place for 17 years running. He never met a stranger.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Pam; his children, Brenda Dennis, Craig Higley, Michael Sanford Jr., and Matthew Sanford; As well as 8 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Hilda; and his siblings, Judith Green, Rick Sanford, and Jimmy Cooper.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Luther Bible Chapel of Morley. The service will begin at 1:00 p.m., with a luncheon to follow.
