Michael C. "Mike" Jones, age 63 of Big Rapids, passed away Monday, March 23, 2015 at his home. He was born February 6, 1952 in Lansing, the son of Paul and Mavis (Lovejoy) Jones. Mike was raised in Eaton Rapids where he attended high school. He was employed by General Motors for 32 years until he retired. Mike collected Camel products and enjoyed watching football and wrestling. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and he will be greatly missed. Mike is survived by his wife, Donna Jones of Big Rapids; two children both formerly of Charlotte, Bruce (Phia Kidder) Jones of TX and Amy Jones of TN; four step-children, Heather (Brian Lewis) Papranec of Eaton Rapids, Andy Papranec of Eaton Rapids, Adam (Crystal) Papranec of Eaton Rapids and Heidi (Matthew) Williams of Vermontville; eight grandchildren, Trent Hurd, Barrett, Gabrielle, Grace and Adam "AJ" Papranec, Marcus Papranec, Caleb and Clara Williams; brother, Clifford (Peg) Jones of Charlotte; sister, Sandra (Marty) Bodell of Eaton Rapids; many nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children, Palmoneada Hall Jones of Eaton Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Maxine Larkins Jones; and brother, Robert Jones. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Mike will be laid to rest at South Grant Center Cemetery in Big Rapids. A memorial gathering will also take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015 at Skinner Funeral Homes in Eaton Rapids. Memorial contributions may be made in Mike's name to Susan P. Wheatlake Regional Cancer Center or to his wife, Donna Jones.
