Mike Hartzler, 60, of Lake, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025.

He was born on October 18, 1964, in Hastings, the son of Karyl and Lois (Gearhart) Hartzler. From 1995 to 2012, Mike proudly owned and operated Hartzler Transportation, offering charter and tour services throughout the region. He took great pride in his work, enjoying the people he met and the places he traveled.

After selling his business, Mike worked for Standard Electric for several years before turning to public service and recently took on the role of Coldwater Township Supervisor, embracing the opportunity to make a difference in his community.

Beyond his professional life, Mike was a man of many passions. He enjoyed jeep rides, cutting wood, Pink Floyd, cracking dad jokes, bird watching, puzzles, and a good IPA. He loved German Shepherds and had recently taken one in from a friend who was fostering her. He was the kind of person who was always there when someone needed help—whether it was through his work, serving his community, or lending a hand to a neighbor.

He is survived by his daughter, Sydney Hartzler; brother, Steve (Angie) Hartzler; nephew, Travis Hartzler; stepchildren: Tia (Marc) Pung and James (Ticasey) Williams; grandchildren: Eric Pung and Talia Willimas; and former wife, Kami Hartzler.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date on the family farm.
