Mia Louise Stevens-Stocking, age 43 of Chicago, formerly of Big Rapids, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2009 due to an accident at her home. She was born September, 11, 1965 in Big Rapids; the daughter of Terry K. and Linda A. (Miller) Stevens. Mia was a graduate of Big Rapids High School. She held several retail management positions in Michigan, Missouri and Illinois until the birth of her daughter. Mia had made her home in Chicago for the past ten years. She is survived by her daughter, Lauren Holly Stocking; her parents, Terry and Linda Stevens of Big Rapids; a brother, Boyd (Lisa) Stevens of Midwest City, OK and numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Mia was preceded in death by her husband, William Stocking in December of 2007; her paternal grandparents, Virginia and Phillip Stevens and her maternal grandparents, Paul and Donna Miller. A memorial gathering for Mia's family and friends will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mia's name may be given to her family. Contributions will be directed to the future care of her 8 year old daughter, Lauren Holly Stocking.
