Meryl J. Maguire, age 81, of Big Rapids, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2006. He was born June 14, 1925 to Glen and Minnie (Hayes) Maguire. Meryl was a lifelong resident of Big Rapids. He was employed at Ferris State University for 26 years before his retirement. Meryl was an avid Tiger baseball fan his entire life. He is survived by: His son: Steven Maguire of Big Rapids 2 grandchildren: Matthew and Taylor Maguire Sister-in-law: Ruth Maguire of Evart and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Meryl was preceded in death by: 2 brothers: Kenneth and Dale Maguire and a sister: Vivian VanAlstine Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 5th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with burial at Pine Plains Cemetery in Colfax Township. The family will greet friends on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
