HAZEN, Mercy Jean Stenke, was born 15 November 1931 in Merrill, Michigan, daughter of Paul and Clemence (Martens) Stenke, died Saturday, 17 September 2016 at her home in Barryton, Michigan.

Jean was raised in a Christian home and lived that faith every day of her life. She was a talented artist and shared her beauty with every life she touched.

Jean lived in Merrill, Ypsilanti, and Sandusky, where she met and married Donald Roy Hazen. They spent 61 years together, raising their children, including 40 foster children, and farming in Sandusky, Marlette, Grand Blanc, Shephard, Eaton Rapids, and Barryton.

Services will be held on Thursday, 22 September 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Lighthouse Free Methodist Church, 4395 20 Mile Rd, Barryton, MI, with Pastor Darwin Mowat officiating.

Visitation will be at the church, Wednesday, 21 September 2016 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Thursday at 12:00 PM until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, Jean asked that donations be made to the OLAH (Osceola League for Arts and Humanities) in Evart, Michigan, towards a scholarship or to the Lighthouse Free Methodist Church.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband Donald; infant son, Mitchell; parents, Paul and Clemence Stenke; brother, William Cullen; infant grandson, Paul; and son-in-law, Jerry Nunn.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, 23 September 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Township Cemetery, Moore Road, Snover, Michigan.
