Melvin J. Priest Jr., age 63 of Rogers Heights, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at his home. He was born August 10, 1948 in Fife Lake, the son of Melvin and Emeragean (Osburn) Priest. Melvin was a cook for 22 years in various restaurants. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dune buggies and mudding. Melvin frequented Ginny's Restaurant, which is now Sharon's, and considered it his second home. He loved the company of his children and friends. He is survived by his children, Terry Sue Priest of IL, Rodney Floyd (Karen) Priest of IL, Brad Lee Priest of IL, Lori A. Whipple of Morley and Michael Adam (Stacey) Whipple of Stanwood; his siblings, Faye Ann Wittkopp of Muskegon, Gary Lee Priest of Chippewa Lake and Patricia Jean Nielsen of Big Rapids; 5 grandchildren, Brian Michael Whipple, Kayla Jayde Priest, Bailey Marie Ryno, Johnathon Michael Whipple and Mackenzie Taylor Priest; several nieces and nephews. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; 2 grandchildren, Curtis Walter Ryno and Cynthia Jane Whipple. Private family services have been arranged. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Melvin's name to West Michigan Credit Union.
