Melodie Covert Jarnigin, 63 of Barryton, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022. She was born July 19, 1958 in Flint the daughter of Martin and Mildred (Piror) Covert. She married the love of her life Lloyd Jarnigin Jr. and together they made their home and raised their sons in Flint. Melodies lifelong passion for animals, of any kind, drew her to become a Veterinarian Technician working for several veterinarians in the Flint area. In 2004 Melodie and Jr. retired and moved home to Barryton. She took a job with the Incredible Doctor Pol and also worked as a cashier at Home Town Grocery and MacKersie Brothers Market both in Barryton. Melodie was a loving, devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She will always be remembered for picking up strays, animal or human, she brought them all into her life. She is survived by a grateful family, including her husband, Lloyd "Jr." Jarnigin; 3 sons, Adam and Jodi Jarnigin of Barryton, Buck and Tracy Buning of Gladwin, Colt and Amanda Jarnigin of Sears; God-daughter, Julie and Cody Thompson of Clio; 13 grandchildren, Melodie, Halie, Nollan, Jakob, Emmit, Renley, Myles, Abel, Bow, Kitt, Wyatt and her angel boys, Conner and Ashton; brothers Robert and Peggy Covert, Robby and Debbie Jarnigin, Lonney and Renee Jarnigin; sisters, Margaret Covert/Hopkins, Joan and Gary Farrell, Debbie and Bill Auten, Cris and Mitch Bysko; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews and cousins. Melodie was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Mildred Covert and Lloyd Sr. "Pete" and Barbara Jarnigin, a brother William Covert and a nephew, Kris Covert. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 14, 2022 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with Pastor Randy Piatt officiating. Melodie will be laid to rest at East Fork Cemetery in Barryton. The family will greet friends on Thursday, January 13th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton.
