Maxine A. Olson, age 76 of Big Rapids, passed away peacefully Friday, October 05, 2007 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 16, 1931 in Kalamazoo to Albert and Evelyn (Dee) Olson. Maxine was a very devoted and dedicated member of the Big Rapids Community. She volunteered thousand of hours transporting people in need for the Mecosta County RSVP program, the Commission on Aging, and for the Department of Human Services. Because of her service to the community, Maxine was awarded the Mary Pine Award recognizing elder citizenship in 2005. Maxine will forever be remembered for the love and care she gave her 3 granddaughters and 5 great-grandchildren who survive. She is also survived by; 2 brothers; Leonard (Linda) Olson of Clermont, FL,Paul (Dorothy) Olson of Cody, WY,A sister-in-law Beverly Olson of Portage, MI And several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by a daughter, Melody Olson and a brother Lloyd Olson. A memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Big Rapids with Pastor John Bookshaw officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be given to Maxine's granddaughters.
