Mary Jo Engstrom Peppler, 65, of Big Rapids, passed away on November 29, 2021. Mary Jo was born in Big Rapids on December 7, 1955 to Richard and Helen (Carter) Engstrom. She was the first of two children and grew up surrounded by many caring aunts, uncles, and cousins. She married William Peppler on November 10th 1979. The two had 42 years of many adventures. Mary Jo lived and worked in Big Rapids for the majority of her life. She worked at the Mecosta County Sheriffs Department until she began working at Ferris State University where she retired in 2019 after 35 years of service. Mary Jos greatest joy in life was her family. She traveled to Montana often to visit her daughter, son-in-law, and three grandsons. She especially enjoyed watching the boys ride their dirt bikes and helping them feed their chickens. She also enjoyed impromtu family dinners with her son and his family as well as taking frequent road trips to new places around Michigan. Mary Jo was preceded in death by her father Richard Engstrom, father-in-law Fay Thompson, and mother-in-law Lena Thompson. Mary Jo is survived by her husband William Peppler of Big Rapids, mother Helen Engstrom of Big Rapids, son Christopher (Stacy) Manor of Big Rapids, daughter Katie (Corey) Waldron of Livingston, MT, granddaughter Marissa Manor of Big Rapids, grandsons Logan, Mason, and Easton Waldron of Livingston, MT, sister Diana Griffus of Big Rapids, sister-in-laws Calla (Claude) Dean of Le Roy, Rose Chipman of Richmond, KY, and Willa Flinton of Evart, nephew Joseph (Kelsey) Manucci of Hudsonville, and great-nephew Kaysen Manucci of Hudsonville. A Funeral Service to celebrate her life will be held at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 4:00 pm. The family will greet friends from 3:00 pm until the service on Saturday.
