Mary E. Werner, age 61 of Big Rapids, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2008 after living with Parkinson's Disease for over 12 years. She was born June 10, 1947 in Ypsilanti the daughter of Howard J. and Audrey (Wilber) Bush. Mary graduated from Belleville High School in 1966. She worked at Eastern Michigan University as a bookkeeper where she met Bruce L. Werner. They married on December 11, 1971 and moved to Big Rapids in 1973 when Bruce accepted a position at Ferris State University. Mary took classes at Ferris State University and graduated in 1994. Prior to attending Ferris, Mary volunteered in the Big Rapids Elementary Schools teaching computers. After she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Systems Mary continued to teach elementary students. During her quiet times Mary enjoyed needle point projects and reading romance novels. She is survived by her loving family including her husband, Bruce Werner of Big Rapids, her daughter, Karen Werner and her husband Daniel LeBoeuf of Big Rapids, a son, Thomas Werner and his wife Sarah of West Bloomfield, Five grandchildren; Ariana, Patrick, Sophia, Alexander and Sydney; Mother, Audrey Bush of Ypsilanti, four brothers; Donald (Becky) Bush of Grass Lake, Dan Bush of Tacoma, WA, David Bush and Bill Bush both of Ypsilanti, Four sisters; Diana (Robbie) Loshaw of Vanderbilt, Margie (Dick) Pregitzer of Thousand Oaks, CA, Jane (Mike) Randolph of Onsted, Irene Rolston of Corvallis, OR and many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her father, Howard J. Bush. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, November 19th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. concluding with a Prayer Service with Father Joe Fix at 6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given in Mary's name to the Hauenstein Parkinson Center at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids.
