Mary Ann Stephens, age 77 of Big Rapids, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2011. She was born March 25, 1934 in Traverse City, the daughter of Joseph Henry and Ione (Fowler) LaMorre. Mary Ann was a very creative person. She was an accomplished seamstress; she painted, she crocheted and she had a passion for beautiful glass that led Mary Ann to owning and operating, The Elite Glass Antique Shop, in Reed City. She also collected English memorabilia and truly enjoyed the Christmas season. She was an avid reader and had served on the Reed City Library Board. Mary Ann was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Big Rapids. She will be forever missed by her loving family. Mary Ann is survived by her husband Kenneth Stephens of Big Rapids; 5 children, Sharon (Bruce) Gallagher of Rifle, CO, Louis (Shirley) Green of Traverse City, Stephen (Pauline) Green of Rochester, England, Jan (Dave) Anderson of Muskegon, James Green of Howard City; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her mother Ione Schottler of Greenville; 3 sisters, Kathleen Gilligan of California, Louise (Don) Dow of North Carolina, Onie (John) Edison of Stanton and many nieces and nephews. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Henry LaMorre; a son Gary Green, infant sons, Mark and David Green; a daughter, Barbara Omsberg; grandsons, Daniel Anderson and Cheyne Gallagher; a brother, James Arthur LaMorre; 2 sisters, Marti LaMorre and Rosie Chambers. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 24th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Father Lam T. Le officiating. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery in Reed City at 2:30 p.m. also on Friday. The family will greet friends on Thursday at the funeral home from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
