Mary M. Munsell, age 74 of Horsehead Lake, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at her home. Her favorite song, On Eagles Wings, was playing as she passed, and she was surrounded by some of her family. Mary was born in Lansing on May 21, 1949, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Dorothy (Clewley) Rausch. She was a 1967 graduate of ORafferty High School in Lansing, where she was raised. Mary married Michael "Mike" Munsell on September 21, 1991. She was employed by Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs as an analyst and retired in 2010. Mary and Mike enjoyed nature; traveling, camping, fishing, and bird watching especially hummingbirds and Baltimore orioles. Together they found their true community in Horsehead Lake and made it their official home in 2012. Mary enjoyed the lake, her flower garden, and her dogs Champagne and Pepper. She found joy in coloring in her adult coloring books. Mary was a member of Saint Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Community in Saint Petersburg, Florida. She cared for her family and her grandchildren were a very important focus in her life. Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Mike Munsell of Horsehead Lake; five children, Marque King (Amy Chingman) of Lansing, Phillip (Dolores) King of Texas, Theresa King of Big Rapids, Michael (Wendy) Munsell Jr. of Perry, and Christopher (Tami) Munsell of Holt; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; ten siblings, Sue (Larry) Leapley of South Carolina, Kathy (Pat) Rademacher of Grand Ledge, Sandy (Dan) Taylor of Haslett, Joe (Margie) Rausch of Canadian Lakes, Tom (Geri) Rausch of Florida, Laura (Tom) Herzing of Battle Creek, Jim (Laura) Rausch of Grand Rapids, Jeff (Elaine) Rausch of Holt, Julie (Mark) Herzing of Battle Creek, and Pete Rausch of Montana; father-in-law, LaVern Munsell of Arizona; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tim (Ruth) Munsell of Tennessee, Laura (Bill) Irvine of Tennessee, and Dan (Julie) Munsell of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her mother-in-law Betty Munsell and nephew Russell Rausch. The family would like to acknowledge and extend a special appreciation to the whole team at Corewell Health Hospice. A Celebration of Marys life will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Martiny Township Hall, 15051 110th Avenue, Rodney, MI 49342, with Deacon Dave Borzenski officiating.
