Mary Jane (Deacey) Kailing, age 89 of Reed City passed away on July 21, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on January 12, 1928 in Evart and lived in the Reed City and Big Rapids area most of her life. Growing up Jane always dreamed of having a loving husband and a large family. On July 5, 1944 she married Theodore "Bud" Kailing; together they raised eight children and enjoyed a lifetime of hard work, love and laughter. Their home was always the gathering place for many friends and relatives. As the children grew older, Jane worked at FSU and the Mecosta County Equalization Department. In 1979 Jane and Bud retired and moved to Salem, Oregon for 7 years. Missing home and family, they returned to Reed City. Jane encouraged everyone to be the best they could be. She had an amazing positive attitude. Her style, elegance and grace were portrayed to the very end. She is survived by her children, Mary Lou (Tom) Swincicki of Reed City, John (Judy) Kailing of Reed City, Linda (Wes) Frisbey of Iron Wood, Jean (Marvin) Sakakihara of Napa, CA, Marcia (Ron) Tripp of Salem, OR, Debora McGillivray of Marina, CA, Steve Kailing of Reed City and Cindy (John) Kirby of Gaylord; one sister, Theresa Harvey of Grand Rapids, 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and many extended family and friends. Jane was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Diane, Sally and Michelle; husband, Bud; a sister, Laura Lucille Olney; brothers, Virgil Miller, John "Jim" Deacey Jr.; grand-daughters, Marie Odren and Christine (Swincicki) Perrenoud and a son-in-law, Terry McGillivray. A celebration of life (open house setting) will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at The Depot, Reed City from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Association or Spectrum Health Hospice.
