Mary Margaret Horan, 70, a lifelong resident of Big Rapids passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Mecosta County Medical Center. Mary attended St. Mary's Catholic School, Big Rapids High School and Ferris State University. She was an accomplished golfer, having won the Meceola Golf and Country Club Women's Championship two consecutive years. Mary had a sense of humor which would always make you laugh. She enjoyed her many friends throughout her life and shared her gift of arts and crafts with them. She also enjoyed playing cards. Mary is survived by her brother Robert Horan and wife Dolores of Big Rapids; sisters, Carol Tasker of Coopersville and Patricia Horan of Big Rapids; brother-in-law, Robert Dawson of Mears and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Agnes Horan, a sister, Barbara Dawson, brother-in-law, Donald Tasker and a nephew, John Tasker. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Big Rapids with Father Lam T. Le and Father David Gross con-celebrating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services at the church. Memorial contributions in Mary's name may be made to St. Mary's School or St. Mary's Church both in Big Rapids. Mary's family is most grateful to the staff at Altercare of Big Rapids and Mecosta County Medical Center for the wonderful care they gave Mary.
