Mary Herula age 96, of Canadian Lakes, formerly of Hamtramck/Detroit, passed away November 11, 2012 in Big Rapids. She was born August, 25, 1916 to Boleslaw and Helen (Jablonowski) Rokicki in Hamtramck. On November 28, 1942 Mary married Bernard J. Herula and they raised their family in Detroit. Mary enjoyed gardening when she was younger and being a home maker. In her later years she looked forward to trips to the casino. Mary is survived by three children: Donald (Joyce) Herula of Troy, Jerome (Marlene) Herula of Macomb Twp., and Patricia (Kenneth) Shelton of Canadian Lakes, with whom Mary had resided for the majority of the last 17 years; five grandchildren, Harold (Kelly) Herula, Robert Lee, Kimberly (Jarod) Makowski, Kerri Swink and Michael Herula; five great-grandchildren, Michael Swink, Alexis Swink, Trevor Lee, Jaden Makowski and Jackson Makowski and many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers, Sigmund, Leo, Felix, and Richard Rokicki; and one sister Felicia Bednarski.
