Mary Margaret Gilbert, age 93, formerly of Morley, passed away October 17, 2008 at Northview Manor Special Care in Grand Rapids. She was born May 8, 1915 in Big Rapids to James and Kathleen (Legett) Davidson. Mary Margaret graduated from Big Rapids High School and married Donald Gilbert on June 21, 1936. They moved to Morley in 1939 where Mary Margaret lived until 5 years ago when she moved to Grand Rapids to be near her family. Mary Margaret was a dedicated member of the Morley American Legion Post #554 Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by 3 sons; Donald (Janet) Gilbert of Spring Hill, FL, Richard (Ethel) Gilbert of Rockville, Maryland, Duane (Kathy) Gilbert of Grand Rapids, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mary Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband Donald on October 18, 2004 and a sister, Kathleen Rundquist. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2008 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Philip Bongard officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Aetna Township Cemetery in Morley. Contributions in Mary Margaret's name may be given to either the Faith Hospice of Grand Rapids or the Morley American Legion.
