Mary Ann Fisher, age 91 of Paris, MI passed away Monday, May 16, 2011. She was born April 2, 1920 in Belfast, Northern Ireland the daughter of Alexander and Rose (McKinley) Gordon. While in Ireland, Mary Ann met and fell in love with a young World War II Army soldier. They were married on August 3, 1945 in England. Mary Ann came to the United States as a War bride in March of 1946. The couple made their home in Montcalm County until moving to the Big Rapids area in 1951. Mary Ann worked as a seamstress at Fashion Industries and later at Wolverine World Wide until her retirement. She is survived by; her 4 children, Gordon (Pauline) Fisher of Paris, Dennis (Joyce) Fisher of Big Rapids, Sandra (David) Kelly of Reed City, Peggy (David) Bearss of Reed City; 4 grandchildren, Brandon Bearss, Sarah Bearss, Barry Fisher, Kellie (Dar) Willits; 4 great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Gordon of Belfast, Northern Ireland and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Francis J Fisher in 2000. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 19th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Dawn Pooley officiating. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be a Park Hill Cemetery near Paris. Memorial contributions in Mary Ann's name may be made to the Mecosta County Commission on Aging.
