Mary C. Crame, age 92 of Stanwood, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, January 9, 2017. She was born December 13, 1924 in Mecosta County, Aetna Township, Michigan, the daughter of Herman and Janetta (Borema) Ulrich. Mary contracted Rheumatic Fever at a young age but overcame the physical limitations and graduated in 1943 from Morley High School.
She married Weldon Crame in 1944 in Howard City while he was on a weekend leave from the Navy. They raised their family in the Grand Rapids area and after retirement moved back to Stanwood. Mary enjoyed the outdoors; hunting, fishing, and gardening. She also cherished the time she and Weldon had together traveling the country in various campers.
Mary loved her family and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Weldon Crame of Stanwood; son, James (Bonnie) Crame of Grandville; three grandchildren, Heather (Bill) Decker, Jason Crame, and Marcey (Duane) Yager; seven great-granddaughters, Katelyin, Paige, Claire, and Megan Crame, Samantha Topoliski, and Mallory and Lauren Decker; sister, Louise McDonald of Florida, and nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Frank Ulrich.
Funeral services will take place 12:00 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Ron Witbeck officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the Funeral Home. Mary will be laid to rest at Higbee Cemetery in Morley.
Memorial contributions in Marys name may be made to Spectrum Health Hospice. The family would also like to extend their gratefulness to all the various ladies from local agencies that provided homecare and visitation support services.
