Mary Kathleen Bentley, age 73, of Mt. Pleasant formerly of Sears/Barryton passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018 unexpectedly at home. On, January 9, 1945, Mary was born in Big Rapids to Arthur and Lurena (Williams) McNeilly. She has resided in the Barryton area the majority of her life. Mary was a cook at Northern Trails for a number of years. She also worked as a secretary at her brother Louis Farm and was a caregiver at various homes for the developmentally disabled. She married Arlo Bentley on August 20, 1971 in Sylvan Township, Osceola County, MI. Mary enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling throughout the UP. Mary loved her family and is survived by three children; Larry Walter of Cadillac, Linda Walter of Evart, Charles (Kristi) Bentley of Sears; three sisters, Lavonne Adams of Sears, Louise (Gene) Brigner of Barryton, Sharon (Darwin) Helmer of Sears; son-in-law, Kary Houghton; sisters at heart/sisters-in-law, Imogene and Aletha McNeilly; step-children, Rita Taylor, Anna Bentley both of Barryton, Richard (Linda) Bentley, Joan (Gary) Farrell both of Sears, Joe (Laurie) Bentley of Chippewa Lake, many grandchildren, great and great-great-grandchildren, numerous extended family and beloved friends that will continue to treasure the memories they have. Mary was preceded in death by: her husband, Arlo; daughter, Lisa Houghton; grandson, Jacob Bentley; three brothers Charles, Eldon (Kay) and Louis McNeilly; a sister, Margaret (Larry) Bronson and her parents. A life celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Sears Church of God. Memorial contributions in Marys name can be made to Hospice of Michigan.
