PARIS Marlene Ruth Grove, 74, of Paris, passed away Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, at her home. She was born to Ora and Reva Sweet on Sept. 8, 1942, in Mecosta County.

Marlene is survived by one son, Robert (Beth) Grove, of Paris; three grandchildren, Emily, Elissa and Ethan; sister, Marella Biller, of Kalkaska; special nieces, Cindy Winters and Jackie Rose, of Big Rapids; special great-niece, Holly Bohman; longtime friends, Jeanette Todd and Joyce Brocker; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry Grove; two sisters, Marjorie Davidson and Patsy Bell; and an infant granddaughter, Meghan Grove.

She was a loving mother and dedicated grandmother. She never missed a chance to support her grandchildren in all their sports and activities. She was constantly bragging about them. She loved gardening and took pride in her flowers. She enjoyed her scratch off tickets and liked to go play Bingo. Marlene was never afraid to "tell it like it was." She was known for giving you her opinion, whether you wanted to hear it or not. She loved meeting new people and making friends. She had a great memory and could find a common connection with almost anyone. She will be greatly missed.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
