Marjorie A. Rathburn, age 78 of Big Rapids, passed away Monday, October 27, 2014 at Metron of Big Rapids. She was born January 1, 1936 in Big Rapids, the daughter of Martin and Eileen (Gilbert) Bishop. Marjorie was a graduate of Big Rapids High School. She lived and worked in the Upper Peninsula until returning to Big Rapids in 1987. Marjorie worked at Chemical Bank in Big Rapids until her retirement. She attended the United Church of Big Rapids for many years and was a member of the Big Rapids General Federation of Women's Club. She is survived by her son, Randy (Lynn) Richards of Lincoln Park; two grandsons, Brian (Kelli) Richards of Atlanta, GA and Matt (Valerie) Richards of Milan; three great-grandchildren, Travis, Darcie and Harvey; nieces and nephews, Mike (Laura) Bishop of Big Rapids, Barb Bishop of Grand Rapids, Brenda (Pete) Winter of Paris and Roxanne Franck of Big Rapids; special friends, Chris and Julie Jensen, the John Doyle family and the staff and residents of Metron that she also considered her family. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James Bishop and Dean Bishop; two nephews, Martin Bishop and Rick Bishop. A memorial service will take place 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2014 at Metron of Big Rapids with Pastor Zachary Nyhuis officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Marjorie's name to the "Activity Fund" at Metron of Big Rapids. Envelopes may be picked up at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
