Marjorie V. Hazen, 104, of Barryton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025. Born on May 11, 1920, in Lansing, Michigan, she was the cherished daughter of Lawrence and Eva (Casler) Eggleston.
Marjorie earned her Masters Degree and dedicated her life to education, serving as a teacher for Lansing Public Schools until her retirement. Teaching was her true passion, and she continued to share her gift by working with children in various settings, from one-room schoolhouses to public schools, and Sunday schools. A lifelong learner, she valued knowledge and continued reading and educating herself well into her later years.
After retiring, Marjorie moved to Barryton, where she nurtured her love for gardening and embraced her deep faith. She was an active member of the Methodist Church and devoted her time to helping others.
Of all her roles, being a grandmother brought her the greatest joy. She cherished her family and found immense happiness in watching them grow and thrive.
Marjorie is survived by her son, David (Patricia) Hazen; her grandchildren, Andrea (Kyle) Nester, Lindsey Hazen, Erin (Daniel) Lenhart, and Mark (Haley) Hazen; step-grandchildren, Cindi Johnson and Shelly (Tony) Schroeder; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Brooklyn, Emma, and Ethan; and step-great-grandchildren, Bianca, Kaleb, and Isabel. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, L.D.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, January 20, 2025, 11:00 A.M. at Daggett Gilbert Funeral Homes, Barryton. The family will receive guests from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. She will be laid to rest at Flake Cemetery, Barryton.
