Marion E. Cowles, age 92 of Big Rapids, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2009. She was born March 7, 1917 in Kent County, Mi to George and Amy (Bennett) Wood. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Richard) Chiles of Ocean Springs, MS; 6 sons, Truman (Sharon) Cowles of Grand Rapids, Curtis (Jan) Cowles of Canadian Lakes, Thomas (Dotty) Cowles of Las Vegas, NV, Corwin (Judy) Tromp and George (Teddy) Tromp both of Muskegon, and Stuart (Joyce) Cowles of SanAntonio, TX; 16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home, in Big Rapids with Pastor Paul Schneider officiating. Interment will be at White Swan Cemetery near Grand Rapids at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marion's name may be made to Chapel of the Lakes Lutheran Church, 9407 90th Ave., Mecosta, Mi 49332.
