Marilyn A. Trahan, age 85 of Big Rapids, passed away Friday, April 26, 2013 at the Curry House in Cadillac with her family at her side. She was born November 10, 1927 in Dowagiac, the daughter of Thomas and Ruth (Plettenberg) Bannan. Marilyn graduated from St. Andrew High School in Saginaw and later attended Mercy College in Detroit. On April 9, 1947 she married Donald E. Trahan in Saginaw. They moved to Big Rapids in 1965 from Roseville where Donald was employed at General Motors. Together they established the United Farm Agency in Big Rapids. Marilyn was a life member of the Rogers Heights VFW Post #4102 Auxiliary. Marilyn is survived by two daughters, Theresa (Douglas) McMullen of LeRoy, Cheryl Sue (Ronald) DePew of Big Rapids; a son Roy S. (Patty) Trahan II of Tennessee; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Carl Sigona of Liverpool, NY; 2 nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Bonnie Sigona; her husband, Donald in 1996; a daughter, Yvonne Marie Misner in 2000; a grandson, Steven Ronald DePew. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Big Rapids with Father Lam T. Le officiating. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 30th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with a rosary beginning at 7:30 p.m. The family will also greet friends on Wednesday at the church one hour prior to Mass. Interment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Parish, the American Diabetes Association, the American Juvenile Diabetes Association or Mercy Hospice of Cadillac.
