Marilyn J. Sherman, age 79 of Barryton, went to be with Her Lord on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 unexpectedly at Altercare of Big Rapids. She was born June 25, 1930 in Evart, Michigan to Loren and Gertrude (Clarady) Bartholomew. In 1948 she graduated from Evart High School and shortly thereafter she began working as a nurse for Dr. Palmer in Barryton. On February 13, 1954 she married Robert Gerald "Jerry" Sherman at the Faith Bible Church near Evart. They made their home in Barryton where Marilyn was very active in the community. She was the former Clerk for the Barryton Fire Department and Treasurer for the Barryton Village Council. Marilyn was active in all areas with the Barryton Boy Scouts as a den mother, Cub Scout leader and as a counsel member. She was a 60-year member of the Faith Bible Church, where she served as the board clerk, Sunday School secretary and treasurer and helped in the nursery. Marilyn enjoyed doing plastic canvas, crocheting and was an avid reader. Marilyn is survived by one Son: Kevin (Linda) Sherman of Sears, three Daughters: Lou Ann (Pat) Norris of Lakeview, Arkansas, Roberta (Donald) Lindsey of Tekonsha, Tina (Randy) McKay of Evart, Thirteen (13) Grandchildren: Travis and Casey Sherman, Faith (Marc) Paine, Trudy and Mark Norris, Jessica (Fianc Sean Steingass), Amy, Robert and Ned Lindsey, Andrew (Fiance Kassi Weston and her children), Ashley and Alec McKay, great granddaughters Charista and Alexandra Paine, mother Gertrude Bartholomew of Marion, sisters-in-law; Elnora Benjamin and Annie Sherman and several nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jerry on December 28, 2003, her father Loren and sister Coralie Clark in 1992. Cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the Faith Bible Church, 10737 30th Ave. (M66), Evart with Pastor Tim Ford officiating. The family will greet friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening May 10th at the church. Interment will be at Sylvan Township Cemetery.
