Marie Emery, age 73 of Paris, MI, passed away Monday, December 8, 2008. She was born August 9, 1935 in Dewitt, KY the daughter of Abe and Nancy (Bingham) Hammons, who have gone before her. She met Jack D. Emery in Detroit and they were married on September 25, 1954 in Tazewell, TN. They returned to Michigan and made their home in Garden City for many years. In addition to raising her family, Marie worked at Fisher Body for 10 years and at Meyers Seafood Restaurant in Dearborn for over 20 years. Following Jacks retirement from General Motors in 1992 they moved to their "Up North" home on the Muskegon River in Paris. Marie was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church near Reed City. She is survived by her loving husband, Jack Emery of Paris Three children; Dave (Beth) Emery of Westland, MI Phillip (Beth) Emery of Atlanta, GA Nancy (Tim) Frey of Belleville, MI Two grandchildren, J. T. Emery of Westland and April Emery of Atlanta, GA Three brothers, Calvin Hammons of Romulus Randall (Sue) Hammons of Standish Abe Hammons Jr. of Canton, MI A sister, Dora McWilliams of Knoxville, TN a sister-in-law, Joann Hammons of Belleville and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Marie was preceded in death by a brother, Wendell and a sister, Brenda. Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 12th at the Liberty Baptist Church, 485 Old U.S. 131, near Reed City with Pastor David Stanski officiating. The family will greet friends on Thursday at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in Marie's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
