Marian Seelhoff Thiel, of Reed City, went to be with her Lord on Monday, September 7, 2015; she was 96 years old. Marian was the daughter of John and Louise Seelhoff of rural Reed City. She was baptized, confirmed and married at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Reed City, where she was a lifelong member. Marian attended the Schmidt School for the first eight years of her education and then went on to graduate from Reed City High School in 1938. On September 28, 1940 Marian married Leonard Thiel of Reed City and together they made their home on the centennial farm homesteaded by Leonard's grandfather. They were married for 67 years when he predeceased her in February 2007. Marian was a member of the Chat and Chew Farm Bureau Group, which was named by Leonard. She is survived by her six children, Charlotte (Richard) Samuels of Grand Rapids, Carole (Bill) Plage of Sophia, NC, Janet (Al Jay) Cousineau of Alto, Ima (Lloyd) Gauthier of Traverse City, Joyce (Dennis) Fisher of Big Rapids and Jon (Laurie) Thiel of Lehigh Acres, FL; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; the families of Sean, Steve and Scott Samuels; and many special people at Breton Rehab and Living Center in Grand Rapids. Marian's parents and siblings, Jack, Paul and Luther Seelhoff and Ione Nicklas all preceded her in death. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Reed City, 22275 - 4 Mile Road, with Reverend Dawn Pooley officiating. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. She will be laid to rest at Hersey Village Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Marian's name may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Reed City.
