Obituary

Marguerite A. Hoisington, age 83 of Stanwood, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 at her home. She was born August 15, 1930 in Wyoming, Michigan, the daughter of Marks and Bridgett (Whalen) Spedoski. Marguerite graduated from Big Rapids High School. She married Jack Hoisington on August 21, 1948 at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Big Rapids. Together they moved to Jack's family's farm near Stanwood where they raised their family. Marguerite was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She cared for their eight children, worked on the family farm and served on the Austin Township Board for many years. Marguerite loved to attend her children and grandchildren's activities; including sporting events and band concerts. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Jack Hoisington of Stanwood; eight children, Jack (Julie) Hoisington of Morley, Jim (Denise) Hoisington of Stanwood, Dave Hoisington of Stanwood, Diane (Randy) Dukes of Big Rapids, Bob Hoisington of Stanwood, Dick (Lisa) Hoisington of Weidman, Annette Hoisington of Mecosta and Bill (Julie) Hoisington of Stanwood; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; brother Jack (Mary Ann) Spedoski of Stanwood; sister Noreen Gondre of Howard City; sister-in-law Leona Spedoski of Stanwood; many nieces, nephews and cousins including special family members, Lon and Micaela Rorick of Stanwood. Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Don Spedoski and Marks Spedoski Jr.; a sister, Dorothy Spedoski; and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Hoisington. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2014 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Howard City with Father Jim Wyse officiating. A Rosary will be prayed at 3:00 p.m. followed by the family greeting friends from 3:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 15th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. The family will also welcome friends one hour prior to the service on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the Church. Burial will be at Stanwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Marguerite's name to Hospice of Michigan.
