Margaret "Jean" Smith, age 57 of Weidman, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2006. She was born December 23, 1948 in Mt. Pleasant to William and Mary Louise (Faber) Riley. A lifelong resident of Isabella County, Jean married Gerald L. Smith on July 9, 1966 in Beal City. Together they made their home in Weidman where Jean raised four busy girls and worked at the Regional Center in Mt. Pleasant for 20 years. Jean was an avid (however fair weather) sports woman. She bow hunted with her husband Jerry, she enjoyed fishing and loved camping with her family. She is survived by; He loving husband of 40 years; Gerald L. Smith of Weidman 4 daughters; Shari (Kirk Tacey) of Barryton Tammy (Archie) Isanhart of Barryton Cindy Schofield of Edmore Gerri (Timothy) Bowers of Canadian Lakes 3 brothers; Bill Riley of Shephard Joe (Patty) Riley of Weidman Steve (Sharon) Riley of Alma 2 sisters; Eileen Tillman of Remus Pat (Glen) Miller of Lake George Mother-in-law; Edith Hammink of Weidman and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Jean was preceded in death by 4 brothers; Dave, Bob, Jerry and Michael Riley and her father-in-law; Vic Hammink Memorial services will take place 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 27th at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton. The family will greet friends at the funeral home today (Tuesday) from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and from 12:00 p.m. noon until services at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Memorial contributions in Jean's name may be given to her family.
