Margaret Y. Blodgett, age 91 of Goodrich, formerly of the Weidman/Barryton area, passed away Friday, October 27, 2023 at her home. She was born October 10, 1932 at home, near the village of Weidman, the daughter of Hiram L. and Gertrude (Sisco) Sperry. Margaret married Allan Blodgett on December 15, 1951 and together they raised their family in Weidman, Houghton Lake and Flint. Following Allans retirement from General Motors they moved to Goodrich. Margaret was a busy wife and mother. She was an accomplished seamstress who did alterations, upholstered furniture and ironed clothing to bring in extra money for her family. She was an avid reader, spending every spare minute she could find with a book. Margaret also enjoyed quilting and crocheting for friends and family. She is survived by her loving children; Sherry (Duane) King of Goodrich, Larry (Caroline Sue) Blodgett of North Carolina, Becky Pitts of Florida, Patricia (George) Parker of Grand Blanc; two daughters-in-law, Sharon Blodgett of Jenison, Cindy Blodgett of Lake; 13 grandchildren, Monica (Dale) Stockwell, Andrea (Keith) Weaver, Angela Sears, Andrea (Joel) Kaczorowski all of North Carolina, Deanna Dockery of Florida; Alex Curry, Renee (Mitch) Hanson, Allen Blodgett, Christine (Josh) Mills, Jennifer (Matt Sanders) Blodgett and Yvonne (Jason) VanWormer, Justin (Kristy) McLachlan, Elizabeth (Nicholas) Stockwell all of Michigan; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pat Krontz and Sue Sullivan both in Michigan; two brothers, Joe (Carol) Sperry of Texas, Dick (Paula) Sperry of Indiana; two sisters-in-law, Carol Johnson and Sandy Blodgett both of Michigan; many nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Allan in 2005; two sons Dale and Dan Blodgett. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 2, 2023 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with the Pastor Kevin Smith officiating. Margaret will be laid to rest next to her husband at the North Brinton Cemetery near Lake. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, November 1st from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Daggett Funeral Home and one hour prior to services on Thursday.
