Obituary

Marcia Lee Alderink, 86, passed away at her home in Stanwood, Michigan on February 5, 2026. She was born in Grand Rapids on May 4, 1939 to Lee and Irene (Kitchen) Keech.

She attended a one-room school in Mosley, MI for five years, then moved to Lowell, MI, where she graduated from Lowell High School. After graduating from Western Michigan University, Marcia taught elementary education in Michigan and Maryland. She then earned her Masters Degree in Special Education, went on to teach special education in both Maryland and Michigan. She enjoyed teaching and was excellent in doing so.

Many other joys in Marcia's life were camping, travel, reading books (book clubs), participating in the theatre (in Canadian Lakes and Arizona), playing cards, and sharing life with friends and neighbors. Marcia also appreciated the opportunity to pet any animal who would let her pet them. She enjoyed listening to God's word from the Bible and through TV programs. Marcia was truly an example of Ecclesiastes 5:19: "To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life - that is indeed a gift from God."

Marcia shared three sons with her first husband, William Stahl. She later reconnected with her high school sweetheart, John Alderink, and they married on June 27, 1992.

Surviving Marcia are her husband: John Alderink and his daughters: Laura (Mark) Leavenworth and Alissa (Dan) McMann; Marcia's three sons: Brett (Stephanie) Stahl, Chad (Pam) Stahl, and Eric Stahl; grandchildren: Nicholas Stahl, Ryan Stahl, Christopher Stahl, Jo'Lee Robinson, Mara McMann, Colin McMann, and Daniel McMann; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Marcia is preceded in death by her parents; former husband: William Stahl; and sisters: Pat and Barbra.

Marcia was stubborn, sweet, independent, and will be dearly missed by family and friends alike.

Arrangements are in the care of Daggett Gilbert Funeral Homes, Big Rapids. A celebration of Marcia's life will be held at a time and place to be announced.
