IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marcia
Alderink
May 4, 1939 – February 5, 2026
Marcia Lee Alderink, 86, passed away at her home in Stanwood, Michigan on February 5, 2026. She was born in Grand Rapids on May 4, 1939 to Lee and Irene (Kitchen) Keech.
Marcia shared three sons with her first husband, William Stahl. She later reconnected with her high school sweetheart, John Alderink, and they married on June 27, 1992. A lifelong learner and educator, Marcia was proud to have taught for many years in both Maryland and Michigan. She was an excellent special education teacher.
Marcia was a free spirit, and she and John loved to travel; they owned a second home in Phoenix, Arizona, and visited places like Playa del Carmen, Mexico, New Zealand, Australia, and several European countries. On Marcia's summers off, she was known to park her camper and stay at the state park in Virginia Beach. In her younger years, Marcia could often be found relaxing on the beach or on the boat.
When Marcia wasn't teaching or travelling, she relished a good game of euchre or gin rummy. She also enjoyed listening to God's word, from the bible and through TV programs. Marcia was stubborn, sweet, independent, and she will be dearly missed by family and friends alike.
Surviving Marcia are her husband: John Alderink and his daughters: Laura (Mark) Leavenworth and Alissa (Dan) McMann; Marcia's three sons: Brett (Stephanie) Stahl, Chad (Pam) Stahl, and Eric Stahl; grandchildren: Nicholas Stahl, Ryan Stahl, Christopher Stahl, Jo'Lee Robinson, Mara McMann, Colin McMann, and Daniel McMann; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Marcia is preceded in death by her parents; former husband: William Stahl; and sisters: Pat and Barbra.
A celebration of Marcia's life will be held later this year.
