Mae B. Ellenburg, age 90 of Kenvir, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009 at her daughters home in Big Rapids, MI. She was born April 13, 1919 in Beckley, West Virginia the daughter of Frank and Ethel Fields. Mae had made her home in Harlan County the majority of her life. She was a faithful follower of the Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the Eastern Star. A highlight in Mae's life had recently taken place when she was awarded the "Kentucky Colonel Award" ; the highest honor awarded by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. She is survived by three children, Thelma Brown of Big Rapids; Kathleen and Donald Reynolds of Raleigh, NC; James E. and Pat Ellenburg of Taylor, MI; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mae was preceded in death by her husband, James O. Ellenburg in 1984; 2 brothers and one sister. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 24th at the Evarts Funeral Home, Evarts, Kentucky with Pastors Jerry Kinney and Jim Lawson officiating. Burial will be at the Rest Haven Cemetery in Loyall, KY. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 23rd from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in Mae's name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
