Mabel Irene Rosander, age 94 of Big Rapids, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2010. She was born February 24, 1915 in Fountain, MI the daughter of William and Eleanor (Comstock) Tava. She married John E. Rosander on May 9, 1937 in Cadillac. They moved to Big Rapids in 1945 when John opened a Chevrolet dealership on the north side of town. Mabel was an avid golfer and bridge player. She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Big Rapids. Mabel is survived by 2 daughters; Marilyn Wise of Raleigh, NC, Eleanor Barrett of New Canaan, CT; son-in-law, Ed Hansen of White Lake; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John in 2001; a daughter Sharon Hansen; son David Rosander; 5 brothers and a sister. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 23rd at the First United Methodist Church in Big Rapids with Reverend Dean Prentiss officiating. The family will greet friends on Friday at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Spring interment will be at Pine Plains Cemetery in Big Rapids. Memorial contributions in Mabel's name may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Big Rapids.
